Forest resources to celebrate centennial

UGA’s Warnell School of Forest Resources will begin its centennial anniversary celebration the week of Feb. 20-24. All scheduled events are open to the public and will take place at the Forest Resources complex located on the DW Brooks Mall on south campus.

John Gordon, former dean of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies is the featured speaker for the spring colloquium. His lecture, “How Resource Professionals Should Solve Policy Problems,” will begin at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 20. It will be immediately followed by a centennial birthday party with cake and drinks.

Additional events of note include an historical review of the Warnell School’s 100 years presented on Feb. 21 by Bob Izlar, forest resources professor, and a two-day graduate student symposium featuring research results and reports Feb. 23-24.
