Garnett S. Stokes, who was dean of UGA’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences from 2004 to 2010, has been named the interim president at Florida State University.
Stokes left UGA in 2010 to serve as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at FSU.
Stokes, who officially will be interim president April 2, succeeds former FSU President Eric Barron, who was named president of Pennsylvania State University.
Prior to serving as the dean of the Franklin College, Stokes was head of the UGA psychology department.
