Former Harvard professor to return after leaving White House
Lawrence “Larry” Summers, director of the National Economic Council, announced recently that he plans to return to Harvard University to teach and conduct research, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
Summers, who has spent two years in his current role helping shape the Obama administration’s economic policies, was one of the youngest professors to receive tenure at Harvard. He also served as president of the institution, but stepped down in 2006 after “antagonizing some parts of the faculty with his leadership style and, in particular, his comments about women’s intrinsic abilities in the sciences,” the Chronicle reported.
