The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently funded two research projects in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
Gary Green, an associate professor of natural resources, recreation and tourism, was awarded $65,000 to assess proposed changes to the Nantahala-Pisgah National Forests Land and Resource Management Plan. Green will look at the plan’s economic impact and effect on recreation.
Rhett Jackson, a professor of hydrology, was awarded $180,776 to test and improve methods for estimating water use and determining what parts of soil are being accessed for water by trees in intensively managed woody biomass crop systems.
