The department of public administration and policy has appointed W. David Bradford as the first holder of the George D. Busbee Chair in Public Policy. Bradford will fill the position in the fall.
Bradford has served as the director for the Center for Health, Economic and Policy Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina since 2002. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Louisiana State University and has focused his research on health economics, industrial organization and microeconomic theory.
“Dr. Bradford is an award-winning teacher and a prolific scholar with an outstanding record of funded research,” said Laurence O’Toole, professor and head of the department of public administration and policy. “As a health economist, he works across academic disciplines to obtain answers to pressing policy questions that governments need to address.”
The George D. Busbee Chair in Public Policy was made possible by a generous gift from Cecil M. Phillips, president and CEO of Place Properties in Atlanta, and a member of the School of Public and International Affairs’ Board of Visitors.
This gift was made to honor and recognize Busbee’s many contributions to the state of Georgia.
