Georgia Economic Outlook set for Dec. 11

Athens, Ga. – The 31st annual Georgia Economic Outlook luncheon, sponsored by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, is set for Dec. 11 at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.

Charles B. Knapp, interim dean of the Terry College and former UGA president, and Wells Fargo Chief Economist John Silvia, will forecast which aspects of the state and national economies will flourish in the next year, and which will wither.

Gov. Nathan Deal will open the program, and UGA President Jere W. Morehead will emcee. Nametag pick up for registered guests begins at 11 a.m., with the luncheon starting at noon. To register, see http://www.terry.uga.edu/eol.

As the state’s premier forecasting event, the Economic Outlook series provides a candid assessment of how the state’s major industries, financial policies and models for growth will fare in the 2014 economic climate.

Using research from UGA’s Selig Center for Economic Growth, the series continues throughout 11 other cities in the region. During the tour, local experts will join Knapp to provide context for each city’s economic future.

Following the Atlanta kickoff, the Economic Outlook series continues with events in Swainsboro (Dec. 17), Middle Georgia (Jan. 9), Savannah (Jan. 15), Coastal Georgia (Jan. 17), Athens (Jan. 22), Augusta (Jan. 27), Dalton (Feb. 4), Albany (Feb. 13), Columbus (Feb. 18), Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 19) and Jacksonville, Fla. (Feb. 25).

Sponsors include Aflac, AT&T, Bank of North Georgia, DPR/Hardin Construction, Gas South, Georgia Power, Georgia Trend, Go Build Georgia, Jackson EMC, R.W. Allen, WABE/PBA and Zaxby’s.
