Athens, Ga. – More than 700 students from across the state recently competed for more than $48,000 in prizes and awards during the 62nd Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, sponsored by University of Georgia Office of Academic Special Programs.
Milton High School student Raja Selvakumar received the top award, the Jackson Electric Membership Corporation Pinnacle Award. Selvakumar and Kaj Hansen, Carrollton High School; Rebekah Bau and Jason Ye, Cedar Shoals High School all received Grand Award sponsored by Jackson EMC, and have since competed in the 61st International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, California. Award winners were announced at the Intel ISEF 2010 Grand Awards Ceremony.
The fair provides students an opportunity to learn how to isolate and solve problems all within the framework of organized, logical thought and study in biological sciences and physical sciences. GSEF also gives the students the initial opportunity to exhibit research projects.
