UGA Terry College names Natalie Glenn director of alumni relations; Johnie Tucker director of annual

Athens, Ga. – Natalie B. Glenn is the new director of alumni relations for the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, and Johnie Tucker has been named the college’s director of annual giving.
A 2002 graduate of UGA, Glenn’s previous work experience has been in the private sector, most recently as the marketing director for Athens-based Barberitos Franchising Inc.

She succeeds Jill Walton, who joined the college’s office of development and alumni relations in 2004 and has served as the alumni relations director since 2005. Walton was promoted to the director of undergraduate student services and corporate relations, a newly created position at Terry.

“Natalie brings a wealth of relevant experience to the role of alumni relations director for the Terry College of Business,” said Martee Horne, Terry’s senior director of development and alumni relations, who announced the hire. “We value her professional experience in marketing and promotions, as well as her demonstrated success leading several nonprofit organizations that are rooted in voluntarism, which is a major part of the job of alumni relations.”

With Barberitos, Glenn was in charge of branding, marketing and advertising strategies for the fast-casual restaurant franchise featuring southwestern fare. She served as the marketing liaison between the franchisees and Barberitos’ corporate office.

Previously, Glenn was director of client relations at Plexus, a technology communications firm also based in Athens. She started her career as an account executive with MYM Marketing & Public Relations, Inc.

An active volunteer leader in the community, Glenn is the current president of the Junior League of Athens and is a past president of the Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary. She’s also volunteered with Mercy Health Center of Athens and the United Way of Northeast Georgia.

“It is a privilege to serve alumni of the Terry College of Business who share a love for the University of Georgia and strive to advance the strategic vision of the college,” said Glenn.

Glenn graduated in 2002 with a degree in public relations from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, where she was a recipient of the Kip Craven Memorial Scholarship. She is married to Will Glenn, who is the associate head coach of the UGA men’s tennis team.

Horne also announced the hiring of Tucker as the new director of annual giving in the office of development and alumni relations. A development officer with the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences since 2007, Tucker succeeds Amber Hurdle as the annual fund director at Terry.

Tucker brings seven years of sales experience and three years of experience with annual fund development to his new role. He is a 1999 graduate of UGA, with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communication, and he is pursuing a master’s degree in nonprofit management from UGA.

“We’re looking forward to having Natalie and Johnie become integral members of the development and alumni relations team at Terry,” Horne said. “As a development staff, we continue to focus on expanding the culture of giving that was only beginning to surface at public universities a generation ago. Going forward, alumni relations and the annual fund are both essential elements of ingraining the culture of giving back to Terry among our alumni and friends.”
