The State Botanical Garden is starting a lunchtime lecture series to raise awareness about actions being taken in the community to aid the environment. The Green Bag Lecture Series begins April 4 at 12:15 p.m. with Dan Geller, a UGA research engineer, talking about biodiesel.
Each week a new lecturer will present another topic in a 30-minute session. On April 11, Heather Alley, botanical garden coordinator, will speak on plant conservation. The next week, Stacee Farrell, the executive director of Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, will lecture on the Green Schools Program.
All programs take place in Classroom A of the Visitor Center at the botanical garden. These first three green bag lunches are offered as part of Athens Greenfest 2007. More information can be found online (athensgreenfest.org).
