Grogus will perform the third concert in the Sunflower Concert Series on Aug. 20 at the State Botanical Garden. The two-hour concert begins at 7 p.m. on the stage of the terraced Flower Garden.
Tickets for the concert are $15, $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Admission includes beverages and light snacks.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and picnic dinners or purchase dinner from Donderos’ Kitchen. Lawn chairs are allowed only for those concert-goers with physical limitations.
Grogus will play Latin jazz, traditional Cuban and Caribbean styles and funk versions of jazz standards. The group previously has received the Flagpole Athens Music Award in the jazz and world music categories. Grogus’ music contains upbeat lyrics and tempo. For years, the group has been a part of the sunflower series, which is sponsored by Friends of the Garden, Northeast Sales Distributing Inc., Athens Coca-Cola, Musicians Warehouse and Flagpole.
