Athens, Ga. – Suzanne Hall, a senior accountant for the department of lifelong education, administration and policy, has received the University of Georgia College of Education 2010 Staff Award for Excellence.
Hall, of Athens, received a plaque and a $1,200 cash award. First runner-up, Laura Boswell, an accountant II in the department of mathematics and science education, was awarded $750; and second runner-up, Krista Vanderpool, an administrative specialist I in the office of academic programs, received $300.
Faculty and staff members describe Hall as a professional, efficient and collegial member of the college’s staff. She is lauded for her commitment to customer service and her positive attitude.
Department head Janette Hill values Hall’s commitment and dedication to her job. “Her dependability and highly honed skills make Suzanne an invaluable asset to me and the department,” she said.
Boswell, of Watkinsville, was praised as “a creative problem solver with determination and tenacity” by department head Denise Mewborn.
“Laura knows the people and the procedures to get things done and done right,” said Mewborn.
Vanderpool, of Winder, was commended for being responsible and diligent.
“Krista is an excellent ambassador for our office and an indispensible colleague,” said associate dean for academic programs Jim Marshall.
The awards were presented in a June 4 reception at Flinchum’s Phoenix.
In addition to the Staff Awards for Excellence, several staff members were recognized for years of service to the college. They included: Tammy Bridges, Priscilla Carter, Barbara Galvond, Helen Rogers, Adlee Smith, and Krista Vanderpool, 5 years; Chelita Edwards, Jeremy Granade, David Millians, Cynthia Williams, 10 years; Shuchen Ashley, Alice Sanderson, and Clarice Thompson, 15 years; Demetrius Smith, Sandy Smith, and Jana Thompson, 20 years; and Linda Lauderdale, Kaye Leverette, Melinda Pass, and June Smith, 25 years.
