The National Association of the Deaf has filed lawsuits against Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology claiming the universities violated anti-discrimination laws by not providing closed captioning on online courses.
The complaints claim the universities violated both the Americans With Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. They are seeking a permanent order requiring the universities to include closed captioning in all online materials.
