Dr. James N. Thompson has been appointed interim president of the Medical College of Georgia.
An otolaryngologist and former medical school dean who has served as chief executive officer of the Federation of State Medical Boards, Thompson joined the MCG staff on Oct. 1. He will serve as interim president until the new permanent president is on board.
Prior to joining the FSMB, Thompson was on the faculty of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. During that time, he served as dean of the School of Medicine and a Wake Forest vice president. In 2002, he was named dean emeritus of the School of Medicine.
