Ruthann Weaver Lariscy, a professor in the department of advertising and public relations at UGA’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, presented the University of Missouri’s Loren Reid Distinguished Scholar Lecture Feb. 15 in Columbia.
Entitled “Political Communication in the 21st Century,” Lariscy delivered the address to her alma mater, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science/history and her Ph.D. in political communication. Reid, under whom Lariscy studied, helped pioneer the speech communication discipline, shaping it through his scholarship, service and work with generations of students.
