UGA’s Fanning Institute is accepting applications for the Latino Youth Leadership Program. The program is open to Latino youth ages 15-19 from across Georgia. Selected students will participate in a yearlong mentorship as well as two sessions on the UGA campus July 9-12, 2006, and Jan. 12-13, 2007. All program costs are underwritten by sponsors.
During the on-campus sessions, university faculty and community leaders will discuss global and societal issues that impact Latino communities and will share information about how to impact change through leadership. Participants will develop knowledge and skills that they can use to make meaningful change in their local communities. Students also will learn about college selection and the admissions process.
Applications must be postmarked by March 15 and are available online (fanning.uga.edu/programs/lylp/applicationform.html). They may be completed electronically or a hard copy may be submitted. For more information, contact Darlene Xiomara Rodriguez at 542-7044 or lylp@fanning.uga.edu.
