Dr. Toni Miles, director of UGA’s Institute for Gerontology, talked about advances allowing people to live longer in a USA Today article.
That story centered around a report showing an increase in the number of centenarians, those people who are 100 years old or older.
“It’s good news for men and women,” said Miles. “Men are taking better care of themselves. We’re finding that some women, in the past, were harmed during deliveries of children, making it harder in later years to walk. But we hope that’s not the case now, so women in the future can also remain in a household.”
