Athens, Ga. – John Lorinc, a veteran radio, cable and print writer/reporter, has been named news reporter/anchor for WUGA-FM and WUGA-TV, the University of Georgia’s public radio and television stations.
Lorinc comes to the university from CNN Newsource in Atlanta. Previously, he worked for Clear Channel Radio and CNN Radio in Atlanta; Metro Networks and WRRK/WLTJ radio in Pittsburgh; and the Sewickley Herald in Sewickley, Pa. Lorinc is a graduate of Penn State’s College of Communications.
In his position at WUGA-FM and WUGA-TV, Lorinc will provide daily news reports, as well as prepare updated content for the stations’ websites, wugatv.org and wuga.org.
“John’s wealth of experiences in the communication field will be an asset to our developing programming,” said Jimmy Sanders, director of WUGA-FM and WUGA-TV. “We are thrilled he has joined our staff, and we look forward to the relationships he will forge in Northeast Georgia on behalf of our stations.”
WUGA-FM and WUGA-TV are operated by UGA in partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Referring to the television station, Sanders said, “By using the resources of PBS’s WORLD network, along with local programming focused on life in Northeast Georgia, we are growing into a leading, viable communication alternative for our consumers.” said Sanders.
