The 2012 Master of Fine Arts candidates from the Lamar Dodd School of Art will host the fourth annual MFA Art Auction Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at Little Kings Shuffle Club, 223 W. Hancock Ave.
The annual MFA Auction is a fundraising event organized to showcase 2-D and 3-D artwork from UGA students, faculty, emeritus faculty, staff, alumni and the Athens community. Proceeds from the auction will be used to support the upcoming 2012 MFA Thesis Exhibition to be held March 23-April 13, with an opening reception March 23 at 6 p.m.
“The auction of artwork from UGA students and faculty continues to be a celebration of the artist donors, purchasers and the graduating MFA students,” said Ernesto Gomez, graduate teaching assistant in the art school and one of the 2012 MFA candidates who helped organize the event. “The auction is a great opportunity to obtain collectable work at a reasonable cost while supporting LDSOA students, alumni and the community.”
