Four ways the University of Georgia makes an impact:
1. We contribute to our state. The University of Georgia is an economic powerhouse. The economic impact of our teaching, research and service is $5.25 billion to the state of Georgia. We support all 159 counties in the state, and every Georgian is within 40 miles of a UGA facility. Fun fact: Georgia has more counties than any other state except Texas.
2. Our research is creating products. The university is one of the top five U.S. universities to have research-based products released to the market. Currently there are more than 600 products based on UGA research in the marketplace.
3. We’re elevating the workforce. UGA is producing top-notch leaders for our state and world. Ninety-five percent of our graduates are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation, and nearly 200,000 of our alumni live in Georgia.
4. We’re removing financial barriers. Since launching in January 2017, the Georgia Commitment Scholarship Program has awarded 164 need-based scholarships. Through this program, the UGA Foundation matches — dollar for dollar — any gift in the amount of $50,000, $75,000 and $100,000 to establish an endowed undergraduate need-based scholarship.
