The American Academy of Arts and Sciences is launching an initiative to address challenges facing public higher education.
The initiative, titled the Lincoln Project: Excellence and Access in Public Higher Education, will work to advocate for the importance of public colleges and universities in the U.S., according to a news release from the academy.
Robert J. Birgeneau, chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, will lead the project.
