Refunds will be issued to approximately 5,700 students who attended Nevada public colleges between 1995 and the present, after the regents determined that the students were unfairly charged out-of-state tuition. State law requires that students be residents of the state for only six months to qualify for in-state tuition. A student had charged that board policy requiring 12-month residency for in-state status was in violation of state law. The refunds could total more than $4.6 million, according to the regents.
