UGA will host banquets May 1 and 2 to commemorate the promotion and tenure of more than 100 faculty members in 2017.
A ceremony honoring those who have attained full professor status is scheduled for May 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Georgia Center for Continuing Education’s Magnolia Ballroom. Those who were granted tenure and promoted to associate professor will be honored May 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Georgia Center. Clinical faculty members who have recently been promoted to clinical associate professor or clinical professor also will be invited to attend.
“I look forward to commemorating this important milestone in the lives of many of our faculty members,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “Their outstanding achievements and tremendous dedication are central to the growing strength of this institution.”
Morehead and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Pamela Whitten hosted the inaugural set of promotion and tenure banquets in 2015 to recognize the outstanding faculty members who earn these career milestones.
“Promotion and tenure are the culmination of years of dedication to staying at the forefront of teaching, scholarship and service,” Whitten said. “Joining our faculty as we celebrate their accomplishments and potential for the future is one my proudest honors as provost.”
