Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia, along with its Freedom Breakfast cosponsors Athens-Clarke County government and school district, is accepting nominations for the 2008 President’s Fulfilling the Dream Awards, which will be presented at the annual Freedom Breakfast on Jan. 18, at 7:30 a.m., in the Magnolia Ballroom of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel.
Award recipients, individuals from both the community and UGA, will be recognized for significant efforts to build bridges of unity and understanding among residents of Athens-Clarke County.
Nominations should be based on significant contributions an individual has made toward the spirit of the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday: Equal opportunity and justice for all. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 10.
Nominations should contain a letter of nomination, which includes the nominee’s name, address and telephone number; a description of the nominee’s acts supporting the application of Dr. King’s ideology and leadership; and two letters of recommendation.

The Freedom Breakfast commemorates the life of Martin Luther King Jr. by providing fellowship and honoring community members who strive to make a reality of his dream for equality. The event’s theme this year is “The Power of the Dream: Transforming One Life at a Time.”
Tickets run $12 for individuals or $96 for a table of eight. They may be purchased through Jan. 15 through UGA’s Office of Institutional Diversity. Tickets bought by Jan. 8 can be mailed to recipients, after that those wishing to buy tickets must do so at the OID.
