Athens, Ga. – Shadi Bartsch, the Ann L. and Lawrence B. Buttenwieser Professor of Classics at the University of Chicago, will deliver a lecture on the University of Georgia campus March 20.
Bartsch, author of numerous books, including The Mirror of the Self: Sexuality, Self-Knowledge, and the Gaze in the Early Roman Empire, will speak in room 348 of the UGA Student Learning Center at 4 p.m. Her lecture, “Persius, the Cannibal Poet,” is free and open to the public.
Bartsch’s other books include Ideology in Cold Blood: A Reading of Lucan’s Civil War, and she is also series editor of The Complete Works of Lucius Annaeus Seneca, Translated into English, which is being published by the University of Chicago Press.
The lecture is sponsored by the department of classics and the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts.
