In conjunction with National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the Office of Information Security is sponsoring a guest speaker series featuring presentations by professionals in the field of cyber security.
“The purpose of this series is to increase awareness of security issues and better prepare users of the Internet to protect themselves against identity theft and related cyber crimes,” says Bert DeSimone, director of communications for UGA’s Enterprise Information Technology Services.
The first lecture, “Cybert-related Crime and You,” was held Oct. 4. Remaining lectures in the series are “Cyber Security, Identity Theft and Fraud,” by Terrance B. Fisher of the FBI’s cyber squad on Oct. 11 and “Identity Theft and Fraud,” by Monty D. Mohr, director of criminal investigations in the Governor’s Office of Consumer Affairs. Both lectures will take place from noon-1 p.m. in Masters Hall of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
