Faculty members outside the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication are needed to serve on screening committees for the George Foster Peabody Awards. Faculty members with expertise in media and the arts, child and family development, politics and political affairs and international issues are especially encouraged to apply.
These faculty members will review program entries and make recommendations to the Peabody Awards Board. Faculty assigned to the screening committees will be expected to spend approximately 40 hours between January and March reviewing radio, Internet or television entries.
Faculty judges will receive $500, either as extra compensation for their service added to their paychecks after the completion of the judging process or in travel funds that must be used before June 30.
Awards will be presented in New York City May 21. Complementary tickets to the awards luncheon are provided to all faculty and student judges.
Interested faculty should email peabody@uga.edu by Nov. 7 and include a brief letter of interest and relevant experience.
