Michael Doyle, director of the Center for Food Safety, was quoted in an Associated Press article about diseased peppers entering the U.S. food supply from Mexico. More than 1,400 people got sick from eating peppers, but there was a problem oversight of the pepper long before the illness outbreak, he said.
“If so many of the peppers we eat in the U.S. come in from Mexico, you’d think we would want to pay more attention,” Doyle said. “Something isn’t working.”
