The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the Institute for African American Studies are initiating an internal search to fill the position of director of the Institute for African American Studies.
Interested applicants must hold a faculty position at the rank of tenured associate or full professor at the University of Georgia.
The director is the chief administrative officer for the institute and major responsibilities include recruitment, supervision, development and evaluation of core faculty and staff; supporting professional development of IAAS faculty, staff and students; building collaborations with other university entities to expand course offerings and increase enrollment; fundraising and grant writing on behalf of the institute; creating and developing sponsored and co-sponsored public programs; and budget management.
