Over the weekend, the majority of nearly 8,700 student residents unloaded cars, trucks and trailers to move into their on-campus homes. Teary-eyed loved ones hugged, and roommates introduced themselves as students settled into their home away from home for the next year.
The annual return of students to campus is a significant undertaking, with hundreds of faculty and staff volunteering with Hunker Down with Housing to greet students, help carry boxes and luggage, and answer questions.
Move-in kicks off Welcome UGA, the campus-wide effort to celebrate and embrace incoming and returning students, providing opportunities for students to meet each other, engage with resources, and grow their UGA pride.
Dozens of programs and events, such as First Night @ the First Kickoff event, Freshman Welcome, Transfer Student Welcome, Engagement Fairs, Ramseypalooza, and BeWellUGA Fest, launch the relationships and experiences which will enhance student success throughout their time at UGA.
Classes begin on Wednesday.
