According to the Houston Chronicle, talks of a merger between Rice University and the Baylor College of Medicine may begin soon. The two institutions already have collaborated on many science programs. Supporters of a merger say that the shift in federal science funds from the physical sciences to the life sciences makes the addition of a medical school even more attractive for Rice, the newspaper reported.
