Athens, Ga. – Nearly three dozen teachers from the Jackson County School System will attempt to program robots to perform the duties of hospital personnel during a staged influenza pandemic as the opening exercise of the RAFTSTEM Summer Institute.
Members of the media are invited to cover the exercise July 13 at the University of Georgia’s River’s Crossing Building, 850 College Station Road, Athens. The exercise begins at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 11 a.m.
The workshop is part of Project RAFTSTEM-Robotics Activities for Teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics-a partnership between the UGA College of Engineering, the UGA College of Education and the Jackson County School System. Since 2004, UGA faculty members have teamed with Jackson County educators to explore ways to enhance classroom learning in the STEM disciplines.
