Safety seminar

Personnel working in biomedical research laboratories, and especially those working with animals or biohazardous agents, are invited to a seminar on creating a culture of safety at UGA Nov. 18 from 3:30-4:20 p.m. in Room H203 in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

“Case Studies in Accidental Exposures in the Research Lab: What Would You Do?” is sponsored by the Office of Animal Care and Use within the Office of the Vice President for Research.

Through presentations of real-world case studies of accidental exposures in research labs, participants will learn why a culture of safety is necessary for the success of institutional occupational health and safety programs. The seminar is presented by occupational and environmental medicine expert Patricia L. Meinhardt, project leader for Martin Blanck and Associates. She has advised universities on development of occupational medicine support services to biosafety and animal care and use programs for more than 20 years.
