More than half of the students who have taken the SAT this year are not “academically prepared” for college, according to a report by the College Board, which administers the test.
Only 43 percent of test takers met the College Board’s benchmark for college readiness.
In the past five years, the percentage deemed college ready has remained unchanged, according to the College Board’s report.
In Georgia, students’ scores also remained unchanged. The average Georgia student score was 1,452 out a possible 2,400. The national average is 1,498.
The College Board report called the stagnant scores a cause for concern and advocated for more rigorous coursework to help students prepare for college.
