An online initiative from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions called “The First” is encouraging students to pledge to become the first to achieve some category of historical greatness.
Listing the achievements of alumni like Hines Ward, the first Korean-American to win the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award; Pat Mitchell, the first woman to serve as CEO of the Public Broadcasting Service; and plenty of students who became the first in their families to graduate from college-the new website asks students to declare what they will be the first to do.
