In a paper published in Science magazine, researchers report finding rubbery tissues inside a Tyrannosaurus rex thighbone that was broken during excavation. The tissues appear to be hollow blood vessels with what looks like red blood cells within the vessels. The scientists said that the finding will change the way they think about the fossilization process because current theories don’t allow for soft-tissue preservation.
