The University of Georgia has set a record for spring semester enrollment as 32,510 students are registered for classes this semester.
The total includes 31,466 students attending classes at UGA’s main campus in Athens and 872 students in classes at the campus UGA shares with Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, and at UGA campuses in Tifton and Griffin. An additional 172 students are enrolled in independent study.
This spring’s enrollment is up by 356 students (1.1 percent) over spring of 2006 and is the largest spring term enrollment ever at UGA. The previous high for spring semester was 32,329 in 2004.
Enrollment on the Athens campus is up by 517 students (1.7 percent) over last spring and includes 23,766 undergraduates; 6,115 graduate students; and 1,585 students enrolled in the professional schools of law, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. There are 567 students in UGA graduate programs at Georgia Gwinnett, an increase of 23 over last spring. The Tifton campus has 53 students, up from 51 last spring and the Griffin campus has 43 students, up from 12 last spring.
The spring total includes 1,335 students not previously enrolled at UGA, including 21 first-time freshmen who have not attended any other college or university since graduating from high school.
