Athens, Ga. – The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia, in partnership with the Oconee River Land Trust and the Athens Land Trust, will host Spirit of the Land: Small-scale images of the Georgia landscape, an art exhibit and sale, Aug. 5-Sept. 9, with an opening reception on Aug. 7 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Garden’s Visitor Center and Conservatory.
Paul A. Manoguerra, chief curator at UGA’s Georgia Museum of Art, will curate the exhibit and speak at the opening reception at 7 p.m.
Georgia’s natural wonder and landscapes have inspired the works in this exhibition. Viewers are able to thoughtfully and intimately experience the Georgia landscape through its small-scale images.
The Oconee River Land Trust and the Athens Land Trust work with private landowners to protect thousands of acres in Georgia, including natural forests, fields, wetlands, riparian buffers, working forests and agricultural land. The Athens Land Trust also provides affordable housing for more than 300 people and creates community gardens.
