State Botanical Garden of Georgia to hold Orchid Madness Fundraiser Feb. 7

Athens, Ga. – The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, a unit of the University of Georgia Office of Public Service and Outreach, will host an Orchid Madness fundraising event on Feb. 7 from 6-8 p.m. in the visitor center and conservatory.

The event will feature a reception, silent auction, exclusive view of rare orchids and an orchid for each guest to take home. Also included is a hands-on beginner orchid class Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. The class will teach participants how to take care of orchids and about the diversity of the orchid genus.

Proceeds from the fundraiser, including the silent auction, will benefit the garden’s horticulture department. The silent auction will feature items including a painting by Athens-based artist and garden board member Mary Hardman.
