Arthur Tripp, state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Georgia, will deliver the keynote address at the 19th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Breakfast.
Tripp graduated from the University of Georgia in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the School of Public and International Affairs. He had been preparing for a future in leadership since his early days as a UGA student. He was part of UGA’s inaugural class in the Washington Semester program as well as a member of UGA’s Student Government Association.
Tripp initially was a senior policy adviser for the chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture. He later returned to UGA to serve as assistant to UGA President Jere W. Morehead as well as on the Alumni Board of Directors for SPIA. In 2015, Tripp was selected as one of UGA’s “40 Under 40.”
Tripp is also a graduate of the 2019 Class of Leadership Georgia and served the 2020 class as a program chair. Leadership Georgia is one of the nation’s oldest and most successful programs for preparing effective leaders to navigate issues and develop solutions that concern the state.
Tripp currently oversees FSA programs for agricultural producers in Georgia that ensure safe and affordable products for consumers.
“To me, success is the ability to sacrifice your personal wants and beliefs in order to create true change for others,” Tripp said. “I am a strong believer in helping men and women across the globe achieve the basic human rights that should be afforded to everyone.”
Join Tripp and the UGA community in celebrating the Fulfilling the Dream Award winners during the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Breakfast on Jan. 13.
The Freedom Breakfast honors the legacy of the late civil rights leader and recognizes local community members dedicated to contributing to race relations, justice and human rights.
