Steven Holland, a professor in the geology department, gave the plenary lecture at the Paleontological Association meeting in Birmingham, England, on Dec 13. His presentation was entitled “Additive Diversity Partitioning in Palaeobiology: Revisiting Sepkoski’s Question,” and he discussed changes in marine biodiversity through geologic time, in particular, the dominant sources of global biodiversity change.
