Daniel Feldman, associate dean for academic affairs in the Terry College of Business, lists reasons that taking a temporary job may be a good move for some unemployed workers in a story by U.S. News & World Report.
Feldman, who also holds Terry’s Synovus Chair of Servant Leadership, told the reporter that even if the prospective employee would prefer a permanent position, there are still psychological perks and boosts to a worker’s résumé that come with taking temporary work.
He also said that these days temporary work can stretch out over a significant amount of time.
“Most temporary work used to be temporary by the day or week, and now a lot of temporary work is contract in nature where people will get three-, four-, six-month contracts,” he said.
