A new Tennessee law will link state funding for public colleges to graduation and student-retention rates, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
The legislation, which applies to four-year and two-year institutions, states that funding for state colleges will be based on the number of students who graduate instead of the number enrolled. It also mandates that course credits be easily transferred from one state institution to another.
