Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Terry College of Business will host its second annual Diversity Business Expo on April 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Tate Student Center’s Grand Hall.
The expo is open to all students, with a particular emphasis on high school students from underserved communities. The goal of the expo is to bring together professionals with current and prospective business students who want to learn about possible careers and other opportunities that a business education can provide, said Randy Groomes, director of diversity relations and recruitment for the Terry College.
“The expo offers companies the opportunity to reach out to diverse students from across the state and share practical advice on how to prepare for a business career,” Groomes said. “Additionally, the event will provide students with practical information on professional development, a presentation on some of the changes to the Hope Scholarship, and we’ll have some feature entertainment from invited campus groups.”
As part of the expo, seminars designed to help high school students develop professional networking skills will be offered.
“Because of the variety of programming at the expo and the focus on career opportunities, schools are encouraged to make this a field trip for their students,” Groomes said. “Parents also are invited to attend and participate with their high school-age children.”
Each student who attends the expo will receive a free copy of the Terry Success Guide, which offers a roadmap for students to maximize their scholastic experiences, as well as secure internships and full-time job offers after college.
Through corporate sponsorships, the expo is free of charge to all participants. Deloitte and Travelers Insurance Co. are this year’s title sponsors.
