Dawn Bennett-Alexander, associate professor of law and legal studies at UGA’s Terry College of Business, attended the Democratic National Convention this summer as a Georgia delegate. During that time, she was interviewed by Atlanta TV stations as well as American Public Media’s Marketplace.
Bennett-Alexander said the experience of casting a vote for the first female presidential nominee of a major party was significant.
“Not only is equality my profession as well as my life’s work,” she said, “but as an African-American, it was important to me for my descendants to know that we were a part of history.”
