Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Terry College of Business and its Tull School of Accounting have maintained accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than 5 percent of the world’s business programs.
“Worldwide only about 650 business schools hold AACSB accreditation and only 178 have the additional distinction of an accounting accreditation, which shows that Terry and UGA are among the top tier of educational experiences,” said Terry College Dean Robert T. Sumichrast. “This honor is further recognition that our faculty members and staff are doing the highest quality work to make Terry the best it can be.”
To earn the honor, the Terry College and Tull School of Accounting underwent a rigorous internal review, in which they demonstrated a continued commitment to a host of quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources and interactions of faculty and students. They also showed continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
“It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation,” said Jerry Trapnell, vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Schools not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty and staff must make a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure continued delivery of high-quality education to students.”
