Higher education consolidation continues in Georgia as the board of the Technical College System of Georgia approved the merger of two central Georgia colleges.
With campuses less than 30 miles apart, Central Georgia Technical College in Macon and Middle Georgia Technical College in -Warner Robins were approved for consolidation at a Sept. 26 meeting.
The merger is slated for completion in July 2013 with both campuses to remain open.
This merger follows several other Georgia technical college consolidations in recent years. It is part of an effort to reduce administrative costs, according to the TCSG website.
