Athens, Ga. – Mary Nguyen, an incoming first-year student at the University of Georgia, has been awarded the Alumni Association Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Nguyen is from Norcross and graduated from the Gwinnett School of Math, Science and Technology. She is the daughter of Huyet Huynh.
The scholarship, funded by the UGA Alumni Association, provides $5,000 per year in addition to the HOPE Scholarship to one academically outstanding undergraduate who is in the first year of college with demonstrated financial need.
The scholarship can be renewed for up to three years, or until the recipient graduates, if certain academic standards are maintained.
