Students were accepted from all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

The University of Georgia received nearly 48,000 total applications for the Class of 2029, an increase of almost 5,000 from last year and a new institutional record. More than 15,800 students were accepted for the upcoming fall semester.

Applications increased evenly among in-state and out-of-state students, up 12% overall from the previous year. The overall acceptance rate is currently a competitive 33%.

UGA accepted students from all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. Admitted students from Georgia represent 154 of the state’s 159 counties — six more than last year — highlighting the importance of UGA’s in-state recruiting efforts.

Admission was offered to students with superior academic records. The middle 50% of admitted students reported a GPA of 4.08-4.35; an ACT score of 30-34; an SAT score of 1300-1470; and 8-14 AP, IB or dual enrollment courses.

“Year after year, the University of Georgia continues to attract incredibly talented students who arrive on campus ready to embrace their role as future leaders,” said President Jere W. Morehead. “I congratulate the students who have been admitted to the Class of 2029, and I look forward to welcoming them to our world-class learning environment this fall.”

The incoming class is intended to be composed of approximately 80% in-state students and 20% out-of-state students. They bring a wide variety of experiences to the university, including more than 16,500 volunteering roles; over 23,000 leadership roles; close to 9,400 jobs; more than 6,000 experiences in the creative arts; and participation on over 10,000 athletic teams. Another fun fact: 24 admitted students have the first name Georgia.

“UGA is committed to ensuring that all students have a wonderful experience during their time here. For incoming first-year students, this includes providing on-campus housing, ensuring they can enroll in necessary classes and supporting them to graduate within four years,” said David Graves, UGA’s director of undergraduate admissions.

Decisions on admission of transfer students for summer and fall 2025 will be released on March 21. In line with its strategic enrollment plan, the university aims to enroll one transfer student for every two new first-year students.
