UGA Beethoven Festival features all ten violin sonatas

The University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music is presenting a Beethoven Festival this January featuring all 10 of Ludwig van Beethoven’s violin sonatas.

The featured performers will be students of Levon Ambartsumian, professor of violin, and Evgeny Rivkin, professor of piano.

The sonatas will be divided into four performances: Sonatas 1-3 will be on Jan. 22; Sonatas 4, 5 and 8 will be on Jan. 23; Sonatas 6 and 7 will be on Jan. 29; and the final two Sonatas, 9 and 10, will be presented Jan. 30. All four performances will be at 7:30 p.m. in Edge Concert Hall at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, 250 River Road in Athens. These performances are free with no tickets required.
