Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Board of Visitors welcomed 23 new members at its recent quarterly meeting in Atlanta.
The Board of Visitors serves to establish new relationships and strengthen long-standing ties between the state’s flagship university and its elected officials, business leaders and community organizations. Members acquire in-depth knowledge of UGA’s accomplishments in teaching, research and service to become ambassadors for the university.
New members, their job titles, companies and hometowns include:

• Bryan Anderson, senior vice president of government affairs, Southern Company, Chevy Chase, Maryland.
• Karen Anderson, managing director, Brookings Institute, Bethesda, Maryland.
• Allison Ausband, senior vice president of in-flight service, Delta Air Lines, McDonough.

“Your colleagues and you will play a critical role in telling the story of the University of Georgia, and-without a doubt-we have a very compelling story to tell,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead as he welcomed the new members. “Thank you for your commitment to serve in this key role and for everything you do to support the university.”
Keith Mason, a University of Georgia Foundation trustee, who chairs the Board of Visitors, said the board was “honored to have such an outstanding class of new board members representing our institution. This group offers a broad range of business, civic, cultural, philanthropic and community experience that allows us to reach a very broad cross-section of Georgia’s leadership with the good news of all that is happening at the state’s flagship institution of higher education.
“I look forward to working with each of them throughout their terms to advance the mission of this board in support of the university’s teaching, research and service activities.”
Board of Visitors members serve two-year terms and are invited to participate in quarterly luncheon programs that focus on topics relevant to the university and the citizens of Georgia.
At the conclusion of their service, members are accorded emeritus status and encouraged to continue participating with the board in quarterly programs.
All board members, current and past, are welcome to bring guests to the luncheons to help further spread the university’s good news.
